The pessimism comes in when you look at the way these are voting.

The guy couldn’t even be the right guy to work at McDonalds. It amazes me we have so many people in politics that could literally work nowhere else. They are essentially unemployable. These are our representatives…

Government Responsibility
This subtle language choice is revealing. Start talking egalitarian political reform and all of a sudden “the Government” and “the People” are two different things: As if they are made up of, by, and for two different kinds of people.
Doubling our police budget to assist in the protection of health insurance management supply lines.
Medicare will be touched. Let’s not be naïve.
That said, I think a more interesting observation is that neither major political candidate ran with healthcare as a major issue. It clearly is.
The problem is, people understand so little that they vote for the people who will do the opposite of what they want. Either that or their hatred of other people eclipses their desire to live in a well-run country.
It seems like everyone knows the problem, but no one knows why the problem is.
I know too many people who voted for Trump because they’re “against billionaires.”, failing to understand he’s like the definitve caricature of billionaires.
The key thing for the incoming fascist regime is that they don’t have to dismantle or make a big show of taking away people’s healthcare, they just have to do smaller things to allow it to “fail” and then blame [current demonized group].
This is what they have been doing to education for years, and people complain about the system and not the people behind its purposeful sabotage.
I’m not sure if @Rapidcreek@lemmy.world meant this with their subtitle, but this percentage is too low to foment change but maybe will keep our barely functional but better than nothing current systems. Hopefully we can surpass that historical 69% number.

If there is anything Congress critters hate it is voting against a rising tide. It’s not good for your reelection chances. The popular opinion on health care is a rising tide.
