I specifically tell my friends that I don’t expect any presents won’t pretend to be grateful and that I won’t get them anything unless I think I know something they’d like. I also tell them I care about them regularly and check in to see how they’re doing.

Love isn’t a yearly checklist; it’s about being there when you’re needed.

I can’t even afford presents for people I like currently so I’m resorting to custom stuff I can make with me own hands

Always choose that. Getting something from a loved one is always special, but it’s a whole other thing when you make it. That’s why hand turkeys and other “silly” things are kept for so forever.

Last year was the first after telling my family I don’t want gifts under any circumstances. If I want it? I either already own it or it is prohibitively expensive. I hated all the waste from shipping (diff state) to the shirts that weren’t what I’d buy for myself. My partner is sending my mother a pic of me with her (mom) taken when we visited in the fall. That’s it. I know she’ll love it and it’s compact and easy.
