Oh yeah real talk they’ve got some killer datacenter chips, be that networking, CPU or GPU. They’re continuing to work on bleeding edge technologies for hyperscalers, and they’ve got no shortage of insane potential. But when they release two generations of desktop processors with hardware bugs it really puts a heck of a stain on such a stellar portfolio and makes it a lot easier for enterprises to look at AMD for their datacenter and client processors (especially when they’re absolutely killing it like they have been in both segments!)

…So whoever they hire as CEO now is probably there to just distribute golden parachutes and eat the company as it dies :/

This is assuming there isn’t some gold in the pipeline. Timeline on a new CPU design is about 8 years from first drawings to actual silicon hitting media test benches, meaning whatever was started in 2019 and 2020 could be absolutely killer and just cooking to perfection in the R&D oven…assuming R&D was kept sufficiently funded and the engineering talent retained to see such a process through

  • Elevating the most realistic comment from the linked thread:

This is quite common for extensions in the UK at least. If there is a man hole you can often get permission to build over it but you would need to be able to provide access should it be needed. In the 15 years of living in a houses with one under our kitchen no one has ever needed access. These is one just outside in the side passage so likely most blockages should they arise could be cleared from that one. A previous property was similar but they had tiled and concreted over so would make a mess should they ever need access.

Edit: one in our kitchen, if access was needed they would need to move kitchen units and break grout. https://imgur.com/gallery/OU0jFvk

Not to be that guy, but as someone who quit caffeine entirely, honestly it’s kinda great not needing caffeine. I traded my daily coffee for water and now I just drink shitloads of water and it’s honesty glorious. Waking up and just…going is amazing

Wanted to throw it out there because it seems not many people try to kick caffeine

  • Unusually authentic Mexican food. Up here 90% of Mexican places are run by white dudes who make semi-authentic “fusion” dishes that are mainly just spicy. Cross the border and less than 15 minutes in, there is one family-run chain (Rancho Chico, Rancho Grande) with super-cheap 100% authentic foods run and staffed solely by Mexicans. And like, holy shit, that’s good food.

A friend’s boyfriend is a Mexican citizen working on immigrating and he explained it to me once that for non-citizens it’s far easier to start a business than to get a job, so many immigrants end up starting shops or restaurants related to their culture as they slowly work their way through the immigration process. This has led to absolutely amazing Mexican and Latin American cuisine in every corner of the country as well as lots of brilliant ethnic stores specializing in hard to get items for people from that culture. I live in a small town of about 12k and have 1 Mexican store, 1 Mexican ice cream shop and 3 Mexican restaurants! In rural Wisconsin!
