  • Sounds like another way toxic people continue to divide us in our own relationships. My wife and I support each other emotionally during hard times. If it’s both of us, or one of us, our job is to be the support the other one needs so they have an easier time coping with it.

Your partner is your best friend. They’re not your therapist, they’re your other half. If you can’t be open, and honest with them - then what’s the point?

We even have laws which say Husbands/Wives can’t be forced to testify against one another because that bond is so strong that they share things that can’t be shared with anyone else.

As with anything though, you just openly discuss where that line is with your partner. Communication is key in any healthy relationship, and the moment you stop communicating or hiding things from one another - it just slowly slides downhill from there.

If they use that vulnerability as ammo against you - call them on it. Your SO is effectively, supposed to be the person you can trust more than your own self at times. If they aren’t that for you, you gotta decide where that sits in your heart.

  • This is actually the reason behind the institute of christian marriage by the way. Since as a species we’re roughly 50:50 in terms of ratio, the idea behind 1 man having 6 wives, ultimately ends up with men that don’t have families. This is used by religions for war (die and you’ll get 12 virgins in heaven!) as well. By using religion and ultimately trying to pin it to 1:1 - that ultimately leaves men “providing” for their families, and by providing - I mean being a part of the workforce and “being productive” in the grand scheme of things. You’ll see lots more of this violence in cultures where there 1:many relationships. Most men strive for reproduction as an instinctual goal, and when that instinct is restricted or repressed, you get outbursts and violence.

Prostitutes kind of short-circuit this reward mechanism, the same way games cause many people to fail at achieving their own potential.

Ultimately, policies like this just end up allowing people to have more outlets to choose to not have children. That’s why you’re seeing attacks on reproductive rights right now; because population is leveling off and number must go up. So long as we continue to rely on number-go-up as a baseline for our society, things like this won’t be put into place.

Bro, GhatGPT wrote a better apology:

    Dear Community,

Look, we know we sell little plastic figures—not games, not platforms, not anything remotely digital—but somehow, we’ve managed to trip over our own shoelaces and knock something precious to all of you right off the shelf. Yes, we’re talking about itch.io, and yes, we understand the gravity of what happened.

We’re not going to sugarcoat it: we messed up. We’re not entirely sure how the dominoes fell this way, but somehow, through a series of unfortunate events (and probably some poorly-thought-out legal maneuvers), our actions have impacted an entire community that thrives on creativity and passion. That was never our intention, and it’s not who we want to be.

The truth is, we’re sitting here staring at our little figures, wondering how something so small can lead to such a big screw-up. We know this affects you, and we’re genuinely sorry for the frustration, confusion, and anger we’ve caused.

We don’t expect forgiveness overnight, but please know we’re working hard to make this right. We’re talking to the people who actually know what they’re doing (because, let’s face it, we clearly don’t), and we’re committed to doing better moving forward.

We value this community more than you realize, even if we’ve done a poor job of showing it. Thank you for your patience, and we hope you’ll give us the chance to earn back your trust—not just with our figures, but with our actions.

  • Yeah, QWERTY was absolutely used to slow down typing as well, but it had a secondary function of spreading out the letters.

DVORAK just has the one function. It didn’t have to contend with other baggage. But it doesn’t mean QWERTY didn’t also have that goal. But since QWERTY handles the same goal that DVORAK does, reasonably well, it doesn’t hit the threshold needed for us to swap over.

Additionally, DVORAK is kind of nasty because it has all of the vowels on the left hand. I just picked a random word “Control” and most of the work is being done by the right hand; most of the time on the same finger row, which is horribly inefficient. Control on QWERTY is roughly equally left and right handed; not clusters of similarly used letters.

A common estimate of the ratio of vowels to consanants in the english language is 3:1 – So you’ll be doing 3x as much work on your right hand than with your left. Which makes DVORAK kind of garbage tbh.

  • I don’t know how many of you realize this, but our true “Humanity” is being the most violent, ruthless apes in the jungle. Just because we managed to become smart and then used smarts in our violence, doesn’t mean we’re not all still at the core, violent psychopathic apes.

We haven’t lost our humanity at all, it’s on full display for the world to see.

Our “civility” on the other hand, absolutely - is taking a back seat right now. But civility is a social construct.

  • Even if the mechanical linkage was the initial reason for the design, the design still holds value in basically spreading out the letters in such a way that it minimizes the need for fingers to be constantly used for the typical words that we use in the English language. You don’t want all the vowels to be on the left hand, for example, you want these letters spread out so that you get roughly even utilization of the fingers when typing.
