This completely misrepresents the issue. It is not about working for free. A salary of a million bucks is just insane, regardless of context, be it for a non-profit, a private company or a presidential office. There’s no point of donating money to a cause if it only ends up in the pockets of a CEO who already has way too much of it.
You know there’s a difference. Nowadays, many people are glued to their phones because of addictive apps like TikTok and Instagram. I can’t imagine that newspapers had the same effect.

Standing up for what is important to you despite technical difficulties (especially such minor ones like the one you are dealing with) is a display of integrity. This issue should not motivate you to leave Lemmy for Reddit.
