The judge basically admitted that he’s trying to make an example out of her.

Damn, you butchered that joke.
That’s what they want you to think.
I don’t see how #1 and #2 are problematic. #2 might be, but I’d need to see the video.
Unless your argument is that anything remotely positive about Tucker Carlson or Peter Thiel is automatically bad?
Insurance is just a bad model for healthcare.
I don’t have any problem with hospital workers being fairly compensated. They have difficult jobs, and doctors are highly skilled and have expensive student loans to pay off. But the cost of care in the US is astronomical compared to any other industrialized nation.
It could be “learning more about life and politics” or it could be “becoming senile and having a steady diet of FOX News, Facebook, and YouTube”. Since higher levels of education are correlated with leftist politics, I’m betting on the second one.
It works on the other side too - e.g. “I’m vegan btw, and voting to restrict access to your ability to eat meat”.
Who’s doing this?
The difference seems to be that there was no incentive for Putin to set vegans vs. meat eaters against one another,
Oh, you sweet summer child.
I’m not following you.
My favorite part of this:
…Collins said that “part of the reason we did bought InfoWars is because people on Bluesky told us it would be funny to buy InfoWars” adding that “those people were right” this “is the funniest thing that has ever happened”.
I can’t believe the bullshit with the Cheneys. When a war criminal like Dick Cheney endorses you, you disavow them.
Harris even got endorsed by Richard Spencer, who’s a white nationalist, and she didn’t say shit! What was she thinking? “I’ve got the neocon vote, now maybe I’ll get the Nazi vote”?
That’s about to change.
Is “more ethical” really enough if you accept that plants can suffer
I don’t accept that, but even if I did, you should still act to minimize suffering as much as possible.
Do you really believe that killing a plant is the same as killing an animal?
You can still care about animal cruelty and be ethical, even if you have an allergy. Having a medical condition doesn’t give you a free pass to do whatever you want.
If you’re eating meat, then you’re contributing to the death of all of those plants that had to feed the animals you’re eating. Even if you grant plants sentience, veganism is still the more ethical option.
It’s “delay, deny, defend.” I don’t think it’s any insurance company’s motto. That’d be pretty fucking brazen if it was! The impression I got was that it was used by opponents of insurance companies to describe their practices. (See book with that title.)
The gunman replaced “defend” with “depose” for obvious reasons.
