It was an older flaw in Thunderbolt ports that could do this. Thunderbolt had the ability to request raw memory blocks over the DMA bus, which worked at the hardware level, completely bypassing the operating system. I believe this has since changed though.

Value-types in C# can apparently contain reference-type members. I had always thought that they could only contain other value-types. I’ve been using C# since before its official release. It still hurts my head trying to wrap my brain around it.
I thought they were already protected. I have clear memories of my grandparents telling me about how it was illegal to kill them and how rare they were over 30 years ago.
