If seller is willing only way to drop cost of customs is to have the shipper mark it as broken/faulty. Will absolutely not work at all times.

Edit: or go in person or have someone who is traveling from seller’s country to yours bring it and not declare on customs forms. Also not 100% effective. This is also known as smuggling. For small personal tech items, almost certainly no major repercussions or difficulty. Your milage may vary.

What type of device is it? If it’s a Surface device there’s a few distros that include the Surface Kernel add-ons, if none of the ones with it included suit you, you can compile the add-ons into the kernel for any Linux distro.

Well, there’s many routes. I chose the “use chatGPT to help draft my long form answers” and be a stone mason route. It’s not a bad gig. Pay is absolutely miserable, but we’re salaried, get a decent pension and not pushed near as hard as in the private sector. That said, my wages were almost literally cut in half when I took the job. I guess long story short…you apply. If you’re in trades, and in a position where you can afford to take a pay cut. If you want to get into trades and are keen on an apprenticeship. It’s decent. Basically, if you’re starting or finishing your career, it’s a great place to be. Or if you have a steady stream of side jobs or a hustle.

That’s what I hated about the Reddit Linux communities. Everyone, or nearly, was super hostile towards nubs. Ask a question anywhere, sometimes even in the “newbie” r/ s, and it’d just be an echo chamber of “don’t you know how to use Google?” Or similar stuff.
I’ve been dabbling with Linux for almost 2 decades at this point, and when I get stuck it’s because I’ve already exhausted my web search abilities.
The most frustrating is when you hit a super niche issue, and the only relevant result is a single forum post with the exact same issue, and the only reply is OP saying “nevermind, figured it out myself.”
And then to be told to fuck off and learn how to do a web search…
