Hate to tell ya but the political class is curated and manufactured by the corporate plutocracy. Most of them are scabs paid to talk the talk publicly, while offering subservience behind closed doors. Anyone actually walking the walk is an anomaly; if they ever have a reasonable chance of success, they are pre-emptively neutralized by the states monopoly on violence.

They will also crush all organized movements with mass surveillance, and it’s only going to get worse. It seems like the masses only recourse is self-sacrifice through vigilante terrorism. It’s much harder to stop a motivated and autonomous, self-organizing, lone-wolf / individual (see mass shooters).

  • Like most companies SpaceX benefitted enormously from NASA / public funding, whose greatest weakness was that it was at the whim of the US political system, which is evidently a complete failure. A multi-decade reusable rocket program was never on the cards with a continuously rotating gaggle of oligarchs changing funding and throwing spanners in projects. SpaceX was able to swoop in and hire all the top talent; thousands of engineers etc that chose the path hoping to join NASA.

It’s not that it can’t be done in Europe. It’s that America had the talent pool from the space race, plus a vulture capitalist plutocracy that guarantees higher profits and worse worker rights.

  • While most work is hard, and I dunno how bespoke this gig is, there’s a massive difference between a generic fry “cook” and a restaurant line cook/chef.

Most fry cooks, like a Macdonald’s, are a finely tuned production line where most of the food is pre-prepped and premade (most of the “cooking” is done in a factory). The “cooks” in those roles usually just assemble the pre made components, and in the case of fast food, have finely tunes tools to serve their generic menu.

A restaurant cook/chef requires significantly more attention to detail, skill, flexibility, and knowledge because most of the food is made from scratch, using raw ingredients, which is why there are culinary schools. Real restaurants can’t succeed with a kitchen full of deep fryers and teenagers pushing buttons. Naturally, the expectation is that they should be paid more because it requires more skill, knowledge, effort, and dedication.

  • It’s just another day in the plutocracy that has probably run things the entire lifetime of “democracy”.

The only difference is with MAGA the plutocracy no longer need to hide behind lobbyists, campaign financing, super PAC’s, nepotism/cronyism, quid pro quo, virtue signaling about national security, etc to engage in corruption, loot the public coffers, and divert trillions to their own companies or cronies in the MIC or whatever.

The conservative propaganda machine has now successfully groomed and cultivated a mentally ill cult, who will let their king insert a microchip into their brains without a second thought… Hell, they’ll probably hand over their life savings for the privilege.

  • None of us are as “free” as we believe we are. At the end of the day our politicians are all financed by our wealthiest individuals and corporations (many of which are foreign).

No matter where you are the majority of your domestic politics, your geopolitics — your “national security” — is intrinsically linked to the wealthiest individuals and corporations that engage with your economy. This can happen anywhere, and it will if we do nothing.

    P.S. thanks mods!
